Chunilal Maneklal Gandhi: a prominent figure in Surat Chunilal Maneklal Gandhi, often referred to as Diwan Bahadur Chunilal Maneklal Gandhi, was a notable personality in Surat with a diverse background in politics, education, and social work. He was actively connected to social worker from around 1921. 

Educator and Visionary: He played a pivotal role in establishing the Haripura Middle School (later V. T. Choksi Haripura Sarvajanik High School) in Surat in 1926 

 He served as the first principal of V.T. Choksi Sarvajanik Law College from 1935-1946. 

Community Leader: He held various positions within the Surat Municipal Corporation, including Chairman of the Housing and Garden Committee. He was involved in different railway associations, including the Surat Railway Marfatia Association, and the South Gujarat Truck Owners Associations. 

He also dedicated his time to social causes, serving as the Vice President in Andhjan Shikshan Mandal (a blind school) and as President in Shishoo Sahay Trust. 

Other Engagements:  He was involved with the foundation of Surat District Co-operative Bank Ltd.
